I wish I could say I was joking, but this is hilariously true . Their inability to simultaneously satisfy their product (users) from the constant exploitation of data gathering and the investors who want to mdk anything and everything to maximize their profits before this whole shebang goes belly up is wonderful to watch.
This has led to Zuckerberg to abandon his signature product, misdirect investors and try to sell the public on new old stock software.

“In a few years, I expect future versions of Messenger and WhatsApp to become the main ways people communicate on the Facebook network,” Zuckerberg said.”
Ever wonder what happened to all those AOL installation disks? Apparently Zuckerberg has been hoarding them.
You’ll install the software from a 5.25" core data disk that has sufficient capacity to carry the program and nothing else. If there is any security concern, a manual data wipe can be performed quickly and easily by passing a lodestone closely by the disk.

Well, if this truly means that social media is dying, that’s the best news I’ve heard all week.

We don't really get older, we just level up.

Truly good news.

Even if Facebook cared about protecting user privacy (which they clearly don’t ) they couldn’t. All that legacy code was never designed for privacy.
And, their business model is dependent on collecting and selling access to as much private information is possible. So...yeah, not going to be a priority.

Okay, it’s the next day here and I’m still chuckling about this post.

You may enjoy this, too. Some of the lines are pretty choice, like:
Facebook has minted money because it has figured out how to commoditize privacy on a scale never before seen. A diminishment of privacy is its core product.
